Chuck Reynolds, Chief Executive Officer of Sygenx, Inc., has spent more than 25 years in executive management roles within the orthopedic implant, biologic, and stem cell industries. Chuck brings a wealth of expertise in all aspects of the business. His extensive experience in sales, marketing, training, medical education, R&D, and operations within the orthopedic implant and biologic industry, are beneficial in positioning Sygenx, Inc. for success within the competitive regenerative market. After graduating from St. Thomas Aquinas College, Sparkill, NY with a BS in Marketing, Chuck has excelled in various executive positions within large companies such as; Synthes and Zimmer, along with numerous successful startup organizations: Osteotech, Globus, Lanx and Pioneer Surgical. Mr. Reynolds has effectively developed leading world-class distribution, sales and surgical education programs, while simultaneously exceeding financial objectives and raising venture capital.
Mike Duvall
Chief Financial Officer
Mike Duvall (CFO) is a licensed CPA in Texas with an MBA degree, who has held various accounting positions (CFO, Controller and others) for over 30 years in industry such as: healthcare, energy, insurance and finance. He spent five years as a senior auditor with Deloitte performing financial audits for both private and public companies. Mike was the CFO for five years at Access Mediquip and worked with an outside brokerage firm to successfully market and sell the company to a private equity firm. Mike supports various charities and is a Board Member of a local non-profit organization in Houston that provides food, shelter, and clothing to families in short-term crises. He also is an inventor and holds four US Patents related to sports analytics.
Karen Hessler
Karen Hessler is responsible for training Sygenx physicians, sales professionals and executives to educate and guide the masses on the nuances of regenerative therapies. Her background and experience has been in the healthcare sector in a wide variety of settings ranging from the operating room, ambulatory surgery centers, peri-operative setting, Phase I, II and III clinical trails and pharmacological research to a private practice setting. She has traveled extensively to train, coordinate and implement advanced regenerative therapies, amniotic, stem cell, PRP and BMA. Karen also has an accomplished background in private practice management, coding, billing and electronic health records.


Dr. Guy Scuderi
Dr. Scuderi is the founder and president of Cytonics Corporation. Dr. Scuderi is a fellowship-trained spine surgeon and has practiced medicine since 1993. He has also recently worked as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery of Stanford University. He graduated medical school from State University of New York at Buffalo, N.Y. and completed his Residency at University of Miami School of Medicine. He is fellowship trained in spine surgery from UCSD. Dr. Scuderi has published over 45 scientific articles and has lectured worldwide. Dr. Scuderi currently practices orthopedic surgery in Jupiter, FL.
Dr. Stuart Shoemaker
Dr. Stuart Shoemaker is a board certified veterinary surgeon with 34 years of clinical experience.. Dr Shoemaker has been a managing partner at Idaho Equine Hospital; an 8 doctor referral equine surgery center. He is the director of the Equine Surgery and Sports Medicine division at Idaho Equine Hospital.Dr. Shoemaker has been an active member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners and served as a board member from 2006-2009. He is a member of The American College of Veterinary Surgeons and an adjunct professor at Washington State University School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Shoemaker is a consultant for Boise State University and serves on the board for Research and Economic Development. He also provides counsel to the Animal Research Vivarium at Boise State University.
Dr. Shoemaker received his DVM from Colorado State University in 1984 and completed a surgical residency program at Louisiana State University in 1989. He became a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1993.
Dr. Sean O'Connell
Dr. O’Connell is a seasoned healthcare professional with 30 years experience in regenerative medicine, immunology, infectious disease and tissue repair. As Founder and President of Wound Immune Consulting, LLC, Dr. O’Connell has served as interim management or strategic consultant to numerous venture capital, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device and tissue processing companies focusing on operations, pre-clinical and clinical development, commercial opportunity assessment, product and market development strategy. Previously Dr. O’Connell has served as Chief Science Officer for Vertical Spine, LLC and as Chief Medical Officer for Cascade Medical Enterprises, LLC.
As Director, Medical Affairs for the Transplantation/Tissue Engineering/Immunology Business Unit of Novartis Pharmaceuticals, Dr. O’Connell was responsible for pre-clinical and clinical development, publications and professional relations. Dr. O’Connell was SVP, Medical Direction, for Integrated Communications Corp. (ICC/IPG) and was COO and Co-Founder of Heartland Bio Technologies, LLC, a drug discovery start-up. Dr. O’Connell received his PhD in immunology and molecular biology from Rutgers University and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey at New Brunswick. Dr. O’Connell has authored over 60 peer-reviewed publications and abstracts and currently holds the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Vascular Surgery, Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York.
Dr. Jason Berk
Dr. Jason Berk was born and raised in the greater Philadelphia area. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He remained in Philadelphia to obtain his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 2008. He then went to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in 2012 to complete his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation where he was a chief resident. Following residency, Dr. Berk completed a Pain Medicine Fellowship at The University of California Los Angeles. Dr. Berk is PA Board Certified in both Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, as well as Pain Medicine. He is an active member of The American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the Spine Intervention Society.
Dr. Berk specializes in conservative, minimally invasive management of spine and musculoskeletal disorders. He believes strongly in treating people as individuals, developing customized treatment plans to address specific needs. In addition to his patient care at Aligned Medical Group, Dr. Berk is a professor at Thomas Jefferson University where he takes part in the training of future generations of Physicians.
Outside of practicing medicine and teaching, Dr. Berk enjoys working out, playing sports, watching his hometown sports teams, and spending time with his family and friends. These days, he is also kept busy by his miniature golden retriever, Sidney.
Dr. Jason M. Cuéllar
Dr. Jason M. Cuéllar, M.D., Ph.D. is a fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon practicing in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles, CA. He provides compassionate treatment of patients with spinal disorders; both non-surgical and surgical. He focuses on total disk replacement (artificial disk replacement) and minimally invasive spine surgery. In addition, he provides non-operative treatment of knee pain, including injections of a novel biologic therapy for mild and moderate osteoarthritis. He is affiliated with the Cedars-Sinai Spine Center of Excellence and Dr. Todd H. Lanman of Lanman Spinal Neurosurgery.
He treats various disorders of the spine, including cervical disk herniation, cervical radiculopathy, cervical myelopathy, neck pain, cervical stenosis, cervical disk degeneration, lumbar disk herniation, lumbar radiculopathy, lumbar stenosis, lumbar degenerative disk disease and low back pain.
Dr. Lanna Cheuck
Dr. Lanna Cheuck is a Board Certified Urological surgeon and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons with a holistic approach whose principles intertwine with the body healing itself. She graduated at the top of her class, earning her entry into the highest, most prestigious honor society that only few get into. She was accepted to and completed her general surgery internship at UMASS Memorial Hospital and then accepted into the IVY League School of Brown University where she completed 4 years of urology residency and served as chief resident in 2010. She continued her pursuit in her academic endeavors by gaining acceptance to a 1 spot fellowship in Minimally Invasive Urologic Surgery specializing in Robotics and Advanced Laparoscopic and Endoscopic surgery at Montefiore at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. There, she focused on nerve sparing robotic-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomies, partial nephrectomies and reconstructive pyeloplasties.

In 2011, Dr. Lanna quickly became the director of Robotics at South Nassau Communities Hospital in Long Island and performed a wide variety of Robotic and advanced urological surgeries. It was her directorship role that she developed her own program for penile rehabilitation for erectile dysfunction and her post prostatectomy penile rehabilitation program where salvaging the nerve bundles and going through her program allowed her patients to regain sexual function almost immediately.

Dr. Lanna is currently the director of EndoUrology and an assistant professor at Montefiore where she is engaged in research looking at Lipogems/Adipose derived stem cells’ regenerative properties for erectile function post Robotic assisted Laparoscopic Radical Prostatectomies (RALRP), vaginal atrophy and stress urinary incontinence. She continues to teach at different medical schools and has been an invited speaker on many occasions and has given multiple grand round lectures on penile rehabilitation for erectile dysfunction and the treatment of Priapism (sustained erection).

She is an expert in lasers and shock wave therapy for stone disease.

Dr. Nelson Scarborough
Dr. Nelson Scarborough has held academic and industry positions with large and small companies including Medtronic, Smith & Nephew and TheraCell, Inc. He is an inventor on 45+ U.S. patents and has authored key papers in leading journals. In addition to his pioneering work in the bone graft field, he has developed technology for improving diagnosis and treatment of spine pain, an extended duration anesthetic for post-operative and other pain disorders among other accomplishments. Dr. Scarborough is currently exploring how to address unmet medical needs with new modalities including regenerative medicine and tissue engineering and establishing strong data to support their usage. He is currently Principal at Oscar Consulting, LLC.
Dr. Farshad Shafizadeh
Dr. Shafizadeh is a board-certified urologist and urological surgeon licensed to practice urology in the State of New York. He is the Director of Voiding and Sexual Medicine at New York Hospital Queens, Weill Cornell Medical Center and Assistant Professor of Urology at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.Dr. Shafizadeh’s areas of interest include surgery and treatment of voiding dysfunction conditions such as urinary incontinence related to pelvic prolapse in women and prostate related disorders in men. With many years of clinical practice in major academic centers, Dr. Shafizadeh is well versed in such minimally invasive procedures as robotic assisted laparoscopic reconstructive surgeries for correction of pelvic prolapse and laparoscopic robotic surgeries of prostate and kidney.Dr. Shafizadeh fled his native Iran on foot as a young teen during the horrific years of the Iran-Iraq War. Making his way across the mountains and deserts of Iran into Pakistan and then to Vienna, Dr. Shafizadeh arrived in the United States in 1985. He attended school during the day and worked at nights to support himself and later his family. He attended college on full academic scholarship with a concentration in biophysics. Subsequently, he received his medical degree from the State University of New York at Downstate, Brooklyn. Dr. Shafizadeh completed both his general surgery and urology residencies at Albert Einstein/Montefiore Medical Center. Upon completing his residency, Dr. Shafizadeh was appointed Assistant Director of Urology at Cabrini Medical Center in Manhattan. Thereafter, he was appointed the residency coordinator for Mount Sinai Department of Urology at Cabrini Medical Center where he was extensively involved with residency training and teaching, along with practicing medicine and surgery.

Dr. Shafizadeh’s training in and affiliation with such major academic medical centers as Mount Sinai Medical Center, Beth Israel Medical Center and Montefiore Medical Center, allow him to remain on the cutting edge of the field of Urology and to quickly adopt the most advanced surgical and minimally invasive treatments into his practice.
